FAQs

Does passing the UTME guarantee a place at a Nigerian university?

A good score is not a guarantee. The board places candidates according to vacancies and each institution's guidelines as well as candidate preferences.

No. The examination is one step in a larger process. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, which conducts it, is also charged in its founding decree with placing suitably qualified candidates in tertiary institutions, taking into account the vacancies available in each institution, the guidelines approved for each institution, and the preferences candidates express for institutions and courses.
