Competition-Based Learning

Constructivist and Situated Learning Theories

Competition-based learning is a student-centered teaching approach that combines project-based learning with competition between student teams, drawing on both team-based learning and problem-based learning. Teams work on open-ended projects that are evaluated by comparing their results against those of other teams rather than against a fixed, absolute standard, and the approach builds in a reward system meant to reinforce the learning behaviors it aims to encourage, using the incentive of competition to motivate teams to produce the best project they can.
