Slow Education

Slow education is an educational philosophy built on Socratic, adaptive, non-standardized approaches to teaching, developed partly in reaction to the compressed content requirements of national curricula and to the spread of standardized testing, favoring qualitative measures of student and teacher success instead. Named by analogy with the distinction between slow food and fast food, it appears often in free, democratic, and home schools, but can also be applied in any classroom, including rigorous, college preparatory settings.
