Public Sphere Pedagogy

Critical, Moral and Equity-Oriented Theories

Public sphere pedagogy is an approach to educational engagement that connects classroom activities directly to real-world civic life, linking assignments and course readings to contemporary public issues. It asks students to take part alongside members of the surrounding community in forms of public discourse such as town hall meetings and public debate events, so that academic learning about an issue is joined to active, civil participation in debating it.
