Early Childhood Education Institutions

Institutions providing education at the earliest, pre-primary level, ISCED level 0 in the UNESCO International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED 2011): care and structured learning for children below the age a national system sets for compulsory primary schooling. Belongs here: standalone early-years settings and pedagogical institutions built around this age band, such as the kindergarten model Friedrich Froebel founded in nineteenth century Germany. Does not belong here: primary and secondary schools, which serve the compulsory schooling ages that follow (ISCED levels 1 through 3), or higher education institutions of any kind. This atlas currently carries one named institution at this level; more will be minted here as depth waves widen early childhood coverage.
