Founders of Named Pedagogical Methods and Movements groups educators credited with originating a whole named teaching method or school movement, identified by their own founding act rather than by a single technique or a psychological theory. Belongs here: Maria Montessori, Rudolf Steiner and Loris Malaguzzi, founders of the Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia approaches; Friedrich Froebel, who founded the first kindergarten; Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, whose Yverdon Institute shaped Froebel and generations of European educators; John Amos Comenius, an early modern pedagogue; A.S.
