The Cockcroft Report, published in 1982 under the title Mathematics Counts, was a government-commissioned review of mathematics teaching in schools in England and Wales, chaired by Wilfred Cockcroft. It recommended a more practical, problem-solving approach to mathematics instruction and the routine use of calculators in the classroom, and its findings influenced curriculum reform and teacher training in mathematics education for years afterward.
