Georgetown University

Georgetown University is a private Jesuit research university in Washington, D.C., established in 1789 by Bishop John Carroll, making it the oldest Catholic institution of higher education in the United States and the country's first federally chartered university. Its main campus sits on elevated ground above the Potomac River in the Georgetown neighborhood, and the university operates eleven undergraduate and graduate schools enrolling about 7,833 undergraduates and 12,198 graduate students from more than 135 countries, with additional campuses in Qatar, Italy, Turkey and Indonesia. It has educated more U.S. diplomats than any other university, including at least 92 U.S. ambassadors, along with two U.S. presidents and two Supreme Court justices.
