Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC)

International Assessment Program

The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) is an OECD survey of adult skills, first conducted in 2011 to 2012 and repeated in later cycles, that measures literacy, numeracy and problem-solving in technology-rich environments among adults aged 16 to 65. Known as the Survey of Adult Skills, it samples participants outside the traditional school system to compare how education, training and the labor market shape adult competencies across participating countries.
