The HighScope approach is an early-childhood curriculum developed from the HighScope Perry Preschool Project research beginning in the 1960s in Ypsilanti, Michigan, structured around a daily plan-do-review cycle in which children choose activities, carry them out, and then reflect on what they did with a teacher and peers. It grew out of Piagetian constructivist theory and became one of the most closely studied early-childhood models in the research literature, cited for long-term outcome data drawn from the original Perry Preschool cohort followed into adulthood.
