Task-based language teaching is a foreign-language teaching approach, developed from the 1980s onward, that organizes a lesson around completing a real-world task, such as planning a trip or resolving a disagreement, using whatever language the task requires, rather than around a pre-selected grammar point students then practice. Language form is addressed afterward, if at all, in response to problems that arose while completing the task, reversing the usual sequence of teaching structure before use.
