All Mastery, Competency and Differentiated Instruction

Approaches that tailor teaching to what each learner has mastered or needs, including mastery learning, differentiated instruction, competency-based education and response to intervention. An approach belongs here when the cited article defines it through mastery of competence, differentiation or intensive support for struggling learners. It excludes universal design and blended learning, which sit in their own group. Teachers use these approaches to plan extra time, varied tasks and early support so that every learner can reach the same goals by different routes.
