All Professional Doctorates and Practice Licenses

Professional Doctorates and Practice Licenses groups a credential that a jurisdiction or licensing body requires by law before a person may practice a specific regulated occupation, whether the credential takes the form of a professional doctorate, a licensing examination or a license issued directly. Belongs here: the Doctor of Medicine (MD), the Juris Doctor (JD), the Bar Examination, Board Certification in a medical specialty, the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE, the route into certified teaching practice in many national systems), the Professional Engineer (PE) License, the Registered Nurse (RN) License, the Real Estate License and the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). Does not belong here: an academic degree that confers no independent license to practice, grouped under one of the two academic-degree groups on this same type, and a voluntary industry certification that demonstrates competency without being a legal precondition to work in the field, grouped under Professional and Industry Certifications.
