Matriculation Examination (India)

In India and a number of other Commonwealth nations, matriculation refers to the qualification awarded on successful completion of the tenth year of schooling, examined by national boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Education or by individual state boards. Passing the matriculation examination is the standard requirement for a student to progress into higher secondary education, and the same terminology, inherited from the British colonial era, is still used in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and South Africa alongside India.
