Higher School Certificate (New South Wales)

The Higher School Certificate, or HSC, is the credential awarded to students who complete senior secondary schooling in New South Wales, Australia, along with a number of affiliated schools in the Australian Capital Territory and overseas in countries such as Singapore and Malaysia. Introduced in 1967 and now administered by the NSW Education Standards Authority, it is completed over two years covering Years 11 and 12, with English the only compulsory subject and students otherwise choosing from a wide range of humanities, science, language, creative arts, technology and vocational courses.
