A UNESCO-coordinated network of national education authorities across Latin America and the Caribbean, established in 1994, that designs and administers the region's comparative learning assessments, most notably the Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (ERCE), periodically testing primary-grade students in reading, mathematics and science across participating countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. LLECE's studies are the region's principal source of comparable, cross-national data on basic learning outcomes, paralleling the role PISA and TIMSS play in other regions.
