Raffles Institution is an independent educational institution in Singapore, founded in 1823 and one of the oldest schools in the country. It provides secondary education for boys only from Year 1 to Year 4, and pre-university education for both boys and girls in Year 5 and Year 6; since 2007 it and its affiliated Raffles Girls' School have offered the six-year Raffles Programme, which lets students skip the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level examinations and proceed directly to the A-Level examinations. Raffles Institution has one of the highest admission rates to top universities such as the Ivy League and Oxbridge, and is a member of academic partnerships including the G30 Schools and the Winchester Network, and co-founded the Global Alliance of Leading-Edge Schools.
