Marva Delores Collins (born Marva Knight, August 31, 1936, died June 24, 2015) was an American educator. She is best known for creating Westside Preparatory School, a widely acclaimed private elementary school in the impoverished Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, which opened in 1975. Her school became a well known example of a teacher building an independent institution to serve children in a low income urban community, and she is remembered in the atlas as a founder of a school and as an educator whose work drew wide public attention.
