Work-based learning (WBL) refers to forms of learning that happen through participation in and contribution to work, across formal, non-formal, and informal settings. In education policy it is linked to national systems for recognizing and validating learning gained outside formal programs, while in higher education and professional practice it is discussed as an emerging, transdisciplinary mode of study.
