Katharina Rutschky, who lived from 25 January 1941 to 14 January 2010, was a German educationalist and author based in Berlin. She coined the term Schwarze Padagogik, literally black pedagogy, in her book of the same name from 1977, describing physical and psychical violence as part of education, a notion elaborated upon some years later by Alice Miller. The concept is also known in English as poisonous pedagogy, and it was first introduced by Rutschky in that 1977 work.
