US Federal Legislation

US Federal Legislation groups Acts of the United States Congress that set national education policy, separate from an executive programme, a court decision, or a state level standards document. Belongs here: an enacted federal statute such as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the No Child Left Behind Act and the Every Student Succeeds Act, its two successor reauthorizations, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the Morrill Land-Grant Act that founded the land grant university system, and Title IX, which bars sex discrimination in federally funded education programs. Does not belong here: a government funded program that operates under one of these statutes rather than enacting it, grouped under US Federal Program, and a Supreme Court ruling that interprets rather than enacts a statute, grouped under US Supreme Court Decision.
