Education for All (EFA) was a global movement led by UNESCO to bring basic education to all children, youth and adults, launched at the 1990 World Conference on Education for All in Jomtien, Thailand and reaffirmed with six specific goals at the 2000 World Education Forum in Dakar, Senegal. It coordinated the efforts of national governments, international agencies and civil society organizations to expand access to primary education and improve literacy worldwide, and its unfinished goals fed directly into the education targets of the Millennium Development Goals and, later, the Sustainable Development Goals.
