Rudolf Steiner

Founders of Named Pedagogical Methods and Movements

Austrian philosopher and founder of anthroposophy, a spiritualist movement holding that pure thought can access a spiritual world through disciplined inner development. In 1919 he founded the first Waldorf school in Stuttgart, designing a curriculum meant to match the developmental stages of childhood through art, imagination and rhythm alongside conventional academics; the model has since spread to thousands of schools worldwide.
