Comenius programme

The Comenius Programme is a European Union educational project that concerns school-level education. It later became part of the Erasmus+ programme for 2014 to 2020. Its stated aim is to help young people and educational staff better understand the range of European cultures, languages and values. It is aimed at everyone with a stake in school life, including teachers, students, parents, parent associations, non-governmental organizations and local authorities. The programme takes its name from the seventeenth-century Czech educator John Amos Comenius, who held that education was an absolute necessity and advocated adapting the transmission of knowledge to each student. The programme is distinct from the man it honours.
