Classical and Enlightenment Philosophers

Philosophers of the ancient and early modern world whose views on knowledge, virtue and the formation of the person shaped later education, from Confucius and the Neoplatonist teachers of Alexandria to the English philosophers of the Enlightenment. A person belongs here when the cited article calls the person a philosopher of the ancient world or of the Enlightenment. It excludes modern reformers and critical pedagogy theorists, who sit in their own groups.
