Educational Testing Service

The Educational Testing Service (ETS), founded in 1947, is the world's largest private educational testing and assessment organization, headquartered in Lawrence Township, Mercer County, New Jersey, with a Princeton, New Jersey address. ETS develops standardized tests primarily for the United States, including the TOEFL, TOEIC, the Graduate Record Examination and the Praxis test series, and administers them in more than 180 countries at over 9,000 locations. Many of its assessments are tied to entry into US undergraduate and graduate institutions, and it also develops K-12 statewide assessments used for accountability testing in states including California, Texas, Tennessee and Virginia. ETS administers about 50 million exams annually in the United States and in 180 other countries.
