Harrow School is a public school for boys providing boarding facilities in Harrow on the Hill, London. It was founded in 1572 by John Lyon, a local landowner and farmer, under a royal charter of Queen Elizabeth I. As of July 2026 it reported an enrolment of 833 boys, all boarding full-time across twelve boarding houses, and it was one of seven public schools selected for reform under the Public Schools Act 1868. Its distinguished alumni include seven former British prime ministers, among them Robert Peel, Henry Palmerston, Stanley Baldwin and Winston Churchill, as well as former Indian prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, several members of the British royal family, three Nobel laureates and twenty Victoria Cross holders.
