Co-Teaching

Instructional Design and Curriculum Frameworks

Co-teaching, or team teaching, is a division of labor between educators who jointly plan, organize, instruct, and assess the same group of students, usually in a shared classroom, often built around each teacher's particular strengths complementing the other's. Teacher candidates are sometimes paired with experienced associate teachers to co-teach as part of their training, sharing classroom responsibilities while they learn; regular classroom teachers and special education teachers are also paired this way to support the inclusion of students with special needs.
