Teaching Quantum Mechanics

Instructional Design and Curriculum Frameworks

Teaching quantum mechanics is a subject of educational research because quantum theory is unusually difficult to teach on account of its counterintuitive nature. As quantum mechanics has moved into more advanced secondary-school curricula, researchers have applied methods from the science of learning to identify the misconceptions students commonly form about the subject and to develop teaching approaches that address them directly, treating how students learn quantum concepts as being as important a question as the physics content itself.
