An interdiscipline, or inter-discipline, is a field that draws on two or more academic disciplines while also meeting the formal criteria to count as a discipline of its own. A field can be both a discipline and an interdiscipline at once, such as demography, and a field regarded as a discipline in one country, such as information science, may be considered an interdiscipline elsewhere.
