The specific rules a school system, jurisdiction or tradition sets for how an education related holiday or observance is kept: what is closed, what is required, and who is bound by the rule. An observance rule entry is narrower than the holiday it belongs to, spelling out the letter of the requirement rather than its meaning, and it records where different schools, districts or jurisdictions differ on how strictly the rule applies.
