Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)

Assessment Practice

The Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is a percentile ranking, from 0.00 to 99.95, used across most Australian states and territories to indicate a student's overall academic achievement in the final years of secondary school relative to their age cohort. Introduced from 2009 to replace a variety of differently named state-based ranking systems, it is calculated from a student's results in a defined set of senior secondary subjects and used by universities to set entry requirements for individual degree programs.

Quote, What is the ATAR
It’s a number between 0.00 and 99.95 that shows how you performed compared to all students who completed an Australian Year 12 program in the same year as you, not just students at your school.
