The Faure Report, published by UNESCO in 1972 under the title Learning to Be: The World of Education Today and Tomorrow, was produced by an international commission chaired by the former French prime minister Edgar Faure. It argued for the concept of lifelong learning and a learning society extending beyond formal schooling, and its ideas influenced international education policy discourse for decades, including later UNESCO reports on the aims of education.
