Nucleos de Aprendizajes Prioritarios (NAP)

State Standards Initiative

Argentina's federal curriculum framework, agreed by the Federal Council of Education beginning in 2004, setting the priority learning content every province's own curriculum must guarantee across Initial, Primary and Secondary education. It exists because Argentina's 24 provincial jurisdictions each write their own curricula under a decentralized system, and the NAP defines the common core all of them share rather than replacing provincial authority. Subject-area NAP documents cover language, mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences and, from the 2010s, technology and the arts, and are periodically revised by the Ministry of Education working with provincial ministers.
