The New Zealand Curriculum

State Standards Initiative

The New Zealand Curriculum is the official statement of curriculum policy for English-medium state and state-integrated schools in New Zealand, from years 1 to 13, issued by the Ministry of Education and given legal effect from 2010 after piloting from 2007. It sets out a vision, values and key competencies alongside achievement objectives for eight learning areas, and works alongside a parallel curriculum document, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, for Maori-medium schools.
