Blended learning combines online instruction, which a student completes with some element of control over its time, place, path or pace, with instruction in a traditional in-person classroom, integrating rather than simply supplementing one with the other. It takes several named organizational models, including station rotation, in which students cycle between an online station and in-person small-group work, and flex, in which most instruction is delivered online with a teacher circulating to support students as needed. This atlas's own Flipped Classroom entry is one specific, widely adopted form of blended learning's rotation family, not a synonym for the broader category.
