Angelo Patri (1876-1965), born Angelo Petraglia in Italy, was an Italian-American educator and author who immigrated to the United States at age five. After teaching in New York City schools from 1898, he became principal of Public School No. 4 in 1908 and later of Public School 45 in the Bronx, among the first Italian-born school principals in the country. He wrote the long-running syndicated newspaper column Our Children on child psychology and education, reaching a national audience of parents and teachers.
