Neil Postman

Neil Postman (1931-2003) was an American educator, author, media theorist and cultural critic who wrote twenty books examining the relationship between technology, culture and schooling. His works on education include Teaching as a Subversive Activity, The Disappearance of Childhood and The End of Education: Redefining the Value of School, in which he argued schools need a unifying purpose rather than a purely technocratic one. He held a doctorate from Columbia University and was critical of uncritical classroom use of personal computers and digital technology.
