Learning Management

Learning management is the capacity to design pedagogic strategies that achieve specific learning outcomes for students, a concept developed by Richard Smith of Central Queensland University in Australia by drawing an analogy with architectural design. It centers on how teaching is planned and carried out, rather than on curriculum content alone, and it is organized around the Learning Management Design Process, a planning tool built from eight sequential questions grouped into three phases: outcomes, strategy, and evidence. The theoretical concept is distinct from Learning Management Systems, the software platforms organizations use to deliver training, track participation, and assess performance.
