Erasmus Mundus

European Reform Process

Erasmus Mundus is a European Union programme that aims to raise the quality of higher education through scholarships and academic cooperation between the EU and the rest of the world, administered through consortia of higher education institutions from Europe and beyond. It pursues internationalizing students, staff, curricula, and research; developing practice in special and inclusive education; and building international collaborative networks, projects, and research efforts. The programme runs through three kinds of action: Joint Programmes, covering joint master's courses and joint doctorates; Partnerships, supporting mobility between European and regional institutions; and Attractiveness Projects, raising the international visibility of European higher education. It takes its name from the Renaissance scholar Erasmus, reflecting its focus on cross-cultural academic exchange. FAQs

How do students apply to an Erasmus Mundus programme?

Apply directly to the institution running the chosen programme.

Students apply directly to the institution running their chosen programme. The European Union's Erasmus Plus website says you can search its course catalogue for details of the latest programmes on offer, so the first step is to choose a programme from the catalogue and then approach the institution that runs it.
