Wellesley College is a private women's liberal arts college in Wellesley, Massachusetts, established in 1870 by Henry and Pauline Durant as the Wellesley Female Seminary, renamed Wellesley College in 1873 and opened to classes in 1875. It is one of the Seven Sisters, an informal group of historically prestigious women's colleges in the northeastern United States, and its 500-acre campus was designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The college enrolls about 2,500 students across 60 departmental and interdepartmental majors, and since 2015 it has admitted transgender, non-binary and genderqueer students alongside women.
