Vassar College is a private liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie, New York, established in 1861 by brewer Matthew Vassar. It was the second degree-granting institution of higher education for women in the United States and remains one of the historic Seven Sisters colleges, though it became coeducational in 1969. The campus spans more than 1,000 acres with over 100 buildings, and the college offers bachelor of arts degrees in more than fifty majors to nearly 2,500 undergraduates.
